Hartell Fund Donation

from 10.00

The Hartell Internship Fund was established to honor Greg Hartell, a career carpenter who spent much of his working life restoring historic buildings. Greg’s love of Crater Lake and the care and skill he exhibited in restoring Crater Lake historic buildings inspired this fund. It supports both on-the-ground development of historic restoration skills and techniques as well as graduate level studies in historic restorations and maintenance at Crater Lake National Park.

With the goal of enhancing the CRLA “Greg Hartell Fund for Historic Preservation of the Oregon Community Foundation” to fund multiple internships/ stipends, the Crater Lake Trust is pleased to offer a challenge grant opportunity to the Friends of Crater Lake to match up to $10,000.00 of contributions to the endowed fund by December 31, 2019 from the Crater Lake National Park Trust.

This is in response to Superintendent Craig Ackerman’s proposal “to match any 2019 donations to the Hartell Fund in order to grow that fund a little faster and allow for lengthening the internships or adding a second.  The work the interns do helps facilitate and expedite other visitor services projects or major rehab.”  This match includes any funds from the Friend’s organization or individual donations raised by the Friends and received by the end of the calendar year 2019.  The fund is now in excess of $100,000 and provides approximately $5,000 per year to support its work.
